June 11, 2025 | Essay Service
l Purpose
This assessment is designed to show you effective ways to write, research and structure professional reports at university and in the workplace, as well as to learn how to avoid the pitfalls of plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct.
IMPORTANT – The use of AI-generated Large Language Models (LLM) like ChatGPT or similar to research, produce or write assessments is NOT permitted in this unit. Assessments will be randomly audited in this unit to ensure they have been authentically written.
l Overview
For this assessment, you will write a 1100–1200 word professional report discussing key strategies for success in the Australian workplace.
Choose one of the following leadership competencies and analyse three key aspects that contribute to success as a leader in the Australian workplace (CHOOSE ONE):
1.Professional Trust
2.Emotional Intelligence
3.Intercultural Intelligence
4.Mediation and Crisis Resolution
Your report should include well-researched insights, practical applications, and relevant examples to support your discussion. Please follow the steps below to complete the assessment.
Steps
Steps
Step 1: Review Relevant Resources
Before starting, review the following materials in the Weekly Activities folder and lecture-workshops from Weeks 5, 6, 7, and 8:
Lectures from Weeks 3 to 8
Reading: "What is Academic Integrity?" (Week 4)
Reading: "Writing Reports" (Week 6)
Tip sheets: "Paraphrasing" and "Reporting What Others Say" (Weeks 5 & 6)
Step 2: Select a Leadership Competency
Choose ONE of the following leadership competencies to focus on in your report:
1.Professional Trust
2.Emotional Intelligence
3.Intercultural Intelligence
4.Mediation and Crisis Resolution
Step 3: Identify Three Key Aspects
Once you have selected your leadership competency from the above, identify and analyse three key aspects that demonstrate its importance in leadership.
Step 4: Conduct Research
Start your research by entering keywords such as:
"leadership skills"
"Australian workplace"
"professional trust"
Step 5: Find Scholarly Sources
Search for peer-reviewed journal articles that address the chosen leadership competency and its key aspects.
TIP – Try using UWA's search engine OneSearch adding terms like 'higher education' and 'univeristy' and 'teaching' along with the other terms you searched for in Step 3.
Step 6: Plan and Write Your Report
Organise your findings and structure your report following a clear and professional format.
Step 7: Submit and Check Originality
Submit your report before the due date to check your Turnitin Originality Report. Click 'View similarity report' and make sure you have referenced, paraphrased and used "quotation marks" around direct quotations.
TIP – Submit early to check your similarity report
To ensure you don't get into trouble for academic misconduct, make sure you check your similarity report before the due date, so you have an opportunity to fix any mistakes and resubmit. You'll only be able resubmit before the due date. Not after. Do this early because we will not accept students saying they didn't have time to check their similarity reports and resubmit as an excuse.
Step 8
Look at the highlighted sections of your similarity report. If your assignment is highlighted in some sections, and you haven't put those sections in "quotation marks", it would most likely be an indication that what you have written has been copied word-for-word rather than in your own words.
An example of a plagiarised assignment
If you notice any sections of your assignment that need attention, add any needed referencing, "quotation marks", and/or paraphrase or summarise correctly. Then resubmit your assignment before the due date. We will only mark your last submission.
IMPORTANT – Make sure any reference to other people's ideas are properly referenced, paraphrased or "quoted."
Please don't cut and paste other people's words and ideas into your assignment, unless you are using a quotation. Cutting and pasting other people's words without attribution is plagiarism and will result in all cases being reported for academic misconduct to the Business School's Academic Integrity Officer for investigation and the application of penalties. (See the Common Questions below for more information.)

Yes.

The in-text references are. The end-text references are not.

UWA assessment policy says that for every 1% over the word limit, 1% should be deducted from the final mark.
What referencing style should I use?
APA style: https://guides.library.uwa.edu.au/apa
My similarity score is really high. I'm worried I'm going to get into trouble for plagiarism.
Your similarity score is not necessarily a good indicator of plagiarism. Assignments can have a high similarity score because of your references and any quotations.
Pay attention to the highlighted sections of your assignment. If your assignment is highlighted in some sections, and you haven't put those sections in "quotation marks", it might be an indication that what you have written has been copied word-for-word rather than in your own words. (Watch the Week 5 lecture. We go through this in great detail.)
In that case, you need to, "quote", paraphrase or summarise correctly and resubmit your assignment before the due date. We will only mark your last submission.
